Caching Scalable Videos in the Edge of Wireless Cellular Networks

چکیده
By pre-fetching popular videos into the local caches of edge nodes, wireless caching provides an effective means reducing repeated content deliveries. To meet various viewing quality requirements multimedia users, scalable video coding (SVC) is integrated with caching, where constituent layers are flexibly cached and transmitted to users. In this article, we discuss challenges arising from different popularity videos, present diverse types contents as well corresponding transmission schemes. We provide overview existing schemes, summarize criteria making decisions. A case study then presented, delay quantified used performance metric. Simulation results confirm that giving cognizance realistic end users capable significantly delay, compared schemes operating without SVC. The also verify proposed random scheme lower than which only gain.

Edge-Caching Wireless Networks: Energy-Efficient Design and Optimization
Edge-caching has received much attention as an efficient technique to reduce delivery latency and network congestion during peak-traffic times by bringing data closer to end users. Existing works usually design caching algorithms separately from physical layer design. In this paper, we analyse edge-caching wireless networks by taking into account the caching capability when designing the signal...
متن کاملQoE-Aware Proactive Caching of Scalable Videos Over Small Cell Networks
The explosion of mobile video traffic imposes tremendous challenges on present cellular networks. To alleviate the pressure on backhaul links and to enhance the quality of experience (QoE) of video streaming service, small cell base stations (SBS) with caching ability are introduced to assist the content delivery. In this paper, we present the first study on the optimal caching strategy of scal...
متن کاملScalable Video Multicast for Multi-Cell Cellular Wireless Networks
—We consider adaptive-rate multicasting of video streams compressed by using Scalable Video Coding (SVC) over cellular wireless networks. Base station nodes coordinate the scheduling of their downlink transmissions to mitigate intercell interference; as well as, at times, to direct the multicast transmission of the same video streams to a group of clients, as implemented in a Multicast-Broadca...
متن کاملCaching Eliminates the Wireless Bottleneck in Video-Aware Wireless Networks
Cellular data traffic almost doubles every year, greatly straining network capacity. The main driver for this development is wireless video. Traditional methods for capacity increase (like using more spectrum and increasing base station density) are very costly, and do not exploit the unique features of video, in particular a high degree of asynchronous content reuse. In this paper we give an o...
متن کاملEdge-tenacity in Networks
Numerous networks as, for example, road networks, electrical networks and communication networks can be modeled by a graph. Many attempts have been made to determine how well such a network is "connected" or stated differently how much effort is required to break down communication in the system between at least some nodes. Two well-known measures that indicate how "reliable" a graph is are the...
